Summarize (Multi-Aggregate)

Groups rows and works out several summaries at once — total, average, median, distinct count and more — one output column for each.

When to use it

Use it instead of Group By when you need more than one figure per group, or a median or distinct count, in a single step — for example total, average and median order value per region.

Worth knowing

  • Functions: sum, count, countNumbers, distinctCount, average, median, min, max, product, stdDev, stdDevp, var, varp. Common spellings such as avg, mean and count distinct work too.
  • Leave Group by empty to get a single row of totals for the whole table.
  • Blank and non-numeric cells are skipped by the number functions, so they do not drag an average down; Count counts filled cells.
  • Groups come out in the order their first row arrived — add Sort Rows afterwards for a different order.
