Worth knowing

  • The connected app needs a Run As user on its Client Credentials Flow policy, otherwise the token request fails.
  • Use the org's My Domain URL on the connection: login.salesforce.com and test.salesforce.com are not accepted by this flow.
  • SOQL has no SELECT *, so at least one field must be chosen; compound address and location fields cannot be selected on their own.
  • Results page automatically up to the Row Limit; tick Write SOQL myself for aggregates and relationship queries.
