Column
Rename Column
Renames one or more columns while keeping their position and values.
When to use it
Use it when incoming headers are technical or inconsistent and you want readable names before the data is joined, grouped or exported.

Settings
| Setting | Type | Required | Default or hint |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rename Rules (JSON) | textarea | — | [{"column":"old_name","newName":"new_name"}] |
Example
Give raw export headers readable names
- Rename Rules=cust_name → Customer, amt → Amount
| cust_name | amt |
|---|---|
| Acme | 120 |
| Globex | 340 |
| Customer | Amount |
|---|---|
| Acme | 120 |
| Globex | 340 |
Only the headers change; each column stays in the same place with the same values.
Worth knowing
- A rule whose column does not exist is skipped, so a rename left over from an earlier file will not fail the run.
- Rules are applied in order, so you can rename a column and then rename the result again.
- Rename before a Join so the two sides do not collide on a shared header.
